SYLVANIA -- Morris Russell Easler, age 73, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah. He was born in Spartanburg, S.C., and was a member of Sylvania First United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army
veteran and was employed in management for 20 years at the Army & Air Force Exchange. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Catherine Wolfe Easler.
Survivors: wife, Betty Jean Beard Easler of Sylvania; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Tommy Smith of Eustis, Fla.; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Edward Jr. and Karen Gross of Evans, Ga., Johnny and Lisa M. Gross of Newington and Timmy and Karen Gross of Sylvania; sister and brother-in-law, Carol E. and John Kelly of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, the Rev. Larry and Jessie Easler of North Carolina and Dwight and Ruth Easler of Spartanburg, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Sunday, March 16, 2014, from 2-3 p.m. at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
Memorial service: Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler and the Rev. Mike Benson officiating. Burial will follow in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Bud Fisher, T.J. Gross, Nicholas Gross and Bill Forehand.
Honorary pallbearers: Nell Pace Sunday School Class of Sylvania First United Methodist Church.
