BROOKLET, Ga. - Patricia Jean Vail, 77, peacefully passed away at her residence Friday evening, May 23, 2014 under the care of the loving angels at Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born in Helena, Montana, raised in Billings, Montana and graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Journalism and would also go on to receive her degree in Early Childhood Education and well as becoming a certified Paralegal. It was at the University of Montana that she met her soul mate and her beloved husband of nearly 53 years, Joel R. Vail. Together they forged a life filled with love, sacrifice, and liberal amounts of humor and patience while raising their three cherished daughters, Julie, Wendy and Amy. Joel and Patricia would go on to spend part of their life together in Costa Mesa, California before finally settling in Brooklet, Georgia, where they have happily lived for the last twenty years. Patricia was a feisty, red headed Irish girl with an abiding love for all animals, especially her beloved kitties, and was always the first person to offer comfort and aide to any person in need. She was a consummate writer\journalist, student, mother and wife and met every challenge in life with great determination and gusto. She made an indelible and positive impression on everyone she met and will continue to be an example of courage and strength for her husband, daughters and grandchildren. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Gladys Ashall and her brother, Lieutenant Commander, Alan F. Ashall of the United States Navy.
