ROCKY FORD - Stephen Gillon Fowler, age 69, died Thursday, August 28, 2008, at the Syl-View Health Care Center in Sylvania. He was a native of Cabarrus County, N.C., and a member of Rocky Ford Baptist Church. He worked in textile management and was a member of the N.R.A. as well as the Augusta Chapter of the HOGS. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Stamey Deese and Mary Claire Gillon Fowler.
Survivors: wife, Jennifer Collins Fowler of Rocky Ford; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Gillon Fowler and Miriam Claire Fowler, both of Rocky Ford, and Michelle Leigh F. and Bill Poole of Salisbury, N.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Paul and Trish Fowler and Gregory Deese and Sharon Fowler, all of Salisbury, N.C.; grandchildren, Joshua Fowler of Sylvania and Jenna Fowler, Raina Olson and Jon Olson, all of Salisbury, N.C.; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Mary Frances Collins of Rocky Ford; several nieces and one nephew.
Visitation: Saturday, August 30, 2008, from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral service: Sunday, August 31, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Rocky Ford Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonnie Johnson and the Rev. Bob Holsten officiating. Burial will be in the Scarboro Cemetery.
He will lie in state at the church from 2-3 p.m.
Pallbearers: Troy Ward, Cail Collins, Josh Fowler, Jon Olson, Jimmy Dailey, Rusty Collins and Jesse Watkins.
Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
