To our friends, the Hendrix, Peacock, Demark and Daughrty Families, Your loss is a loss for our family as well. Few people ever get to have a friend like Bette. Our lives were twined together from our earliest memories because our parents and grandparents lived, loved, farmed, fished, hunted and cared for one another. Bette and Ruel were part of our lives and they were true friends and beloved to all of us.
We will never listen to a recording of "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley and not think of Bette... we will never eat a Hershey Bar and not think of Bette... We will never go to a polling place to cast a vote in National Politics and not wonder what Bette (or Cliff Peacock) might have to say... For countless reasons we will miss our friend, however, We know God's hand holds ours and a chorus of angels sang when Bette was blessed to her homegoing. Bette was an angel to many and she held our hands in our sorrows and she laughed with us in our happiness... there was that quiet place in her heart, that place where she kept us all.
With prayers of peace, comfort and joy; with the greatest love - We remember Bette Peacock Hendrix

Dear Family,
As part of the church family at Poplar Springs Baptist Church and as a person who attended Portal schools graduating in 1955 (one year prior to Bette), I had many opportunities to enjoy Bette. She will be remembered for her contribution to the Portal community through many devoted years of supporting the Portal Heritage Society, Inc. and, and most importantly, her love and devotion to her family.

Our prayers go with you as you go through this great personal loss.

Sincerely,
N. Luree Bowen
