Mr. Thomas George Nixon Sr., age 71, of Griffin, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013, at Brightmoor Hospice.
Mr. Nixon was born in Griffin on June 20, 1942. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Heard Nixon and Vivian Atkinson Nixon; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Luke and Wudie Anderson. He was a real estate broker, former owner and operator of the Forum Drive-in and Nancy Cinema. Mr. Nixon was a veteran of the United States Army, longtime and active member of First Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Russell Raiders Sunday School Class, past president and life member of the Griffin AMBUS, former member of the Charles E. Newton Radio Club, American legion Post 15 and a very strong advocate for everyone to be a transplant donor.
Survivors include wife of 48 years, Linda Anderson Nixon; daughter, Elinor Delagrange, and her husband, Shane, of Winston, Georgia; son, Thomas G. "Nick" Nixon Jr., and his wife, Julie, of Roswell, Georgia; son, Tim Brown of Acworth, Georgia; grandchildren, Jackie, Lauren, Ginger, Hope, Megan and Caleb; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jo Anne and Wyman Hunt of Jacksonville, Florida, Karen and Allen Seals of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, Lisa and Stan Cochran of Frankfort, Kentucky, Elenor Lucious "Andy" III and Tippy Anderson of Huntsville, Alabama, Greg and Julie Anderson of Statesboro, Georgia; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mr. Thomas G. Nixon Sr. will be on Thursday, August 29, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home.
The memorial service will be conducted on Friday, August 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Dr. Bill Hardee and the Reverend Brian McCartney will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, veteran section, with military honors.
