STILSON, Ga. -- Mr. Buie Jerome Miller, age 79, died Thursday at his residence. The Laurens County native lived in Bulloch County most of his life. Following his graduation from Stilson High School at the age of 16, Buie attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College in Tifton, Georgia, graduating in 1952. After his graduation, Buie joined the United States Army, in which he served through 1954. Returning to the family farm, he remained a farmer all of his life. He was a member of the Hubert United Methodist Church since 1936.

Mr. Miller was a member of the board of directors of the Bulloch Telephone Cooperative for over 40 years, a member of the Bulloch County Farm Bureau and a past member of the Bulloch County Young Farmers.
Buie was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Lafayette Miller Sr. and Carrie Mae Clark Miller; two brothers, M.L. Miller Jr. and Clyde Miller; and two sisters, Hazel Massey and Mary Jones.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Louise Baker Miller of Stilson; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Sandra Miller, Tracy and Michele Miller and Tim and Candi Miller, all of Stilson; a daughter, Tiffany Miller Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Elmer Miller, Katie Pye, Dexter Miller, Trey Miller, Jordan Cowart, Ty Cowart, Taylor Miller and Dillon Brown; great-grandchildren, Remington and Raeleigh Thompson, Preston Pye, Brent Miller and Hayden Miller, and looking forward to the arrival of two more. Mr. Miller is also survived by a sister, Allene Harden of Stilson; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday from 4-7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Emerson Proctor officiating, assisted by Elder Lee Chambers. Interment will be in the Brooklet City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Elmer Miller, Trey Miller, Dexter Miller, Jordan Cowart, Aubrey Pye, Kenneth Knight, Timmy Sapp and Lamar Lanier.
Honorary pallbearers will be the board of directors and personnel of Bulloch Telephone Cooperative, Bill Cannady, James Davis, Warren Johnson, Don Miller and Hubert Terrell.
