STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mr. James Torrence, age 54, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, December 31st, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice facility. He was a native of Bulloch County.

He is survived by three sons, Derrick Torrence, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Jamain Torrence, Portal, and George Torrence, Statesboro; one daughter, Tosha Torrence, Melbourne, Fla.; three sisters, Bonnie Torrence, Miami, Fla., Evelyn Torrence, Wrens, Ga., and Carol Hanna, Statesboro; three brothers, Henry Torrence and William Torrence, both of Portal, and Gary Torrence, Miami, Fla.; two aunts, Lucinda Peaton, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Katherine Battle, Statesboro; three uncles, Jessie (Annie) Battle, Warrington, Ga., Julius Battle, Forsyth, Ga., and Lehman Battle, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Torrence will be held on Thursday, January 9th, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of James R. Barnes Mortuary with the Rev. Willie Marvin Torrence officiating. Burial will be in Scarboro Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
