Mrs. Mamie Lou Smith, age 88, passed peacefully away on Wednesday evening, April 23rd, at her residence under the professional care of Ogeechee Area Hospice, after an extended illness. She was a Bulloch County native. She was a member of Ada Bell Church of God in Register, Ga., where she served as church mother, as a pianist and sung in the church choir.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Otha Smith Sr. They had been married since 1942.
She is survived by her loving children, Ms. Geneva Smith, Mr. Roy L. Smith (Judy) and Mr. Otha L. Smith Jr., all of Asbury Park, N.J., Mr. Clinton Smith, Mrs. Lela Faye Burns (Woodrow), Mr. Earl Smith (Latrese), Mrs. Annette Dekle, Mrs. Darlene Johnson (Ulysses) and Mr. Randy Smith (Judy), all of Statesboro, Ga., and Mr. Lamar Smith (Mildred) of Portal, Ga.; 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration will be Tuesday, April 29th, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Snella's Place, Highway 301 North, Allen Circle, Statesboro, Ga., with Bishop Larry Jones presiding and the Rev. Ronnie Harden, eulogist. Interment will be held in Bulloch Memorial Gardens, Highway 80 East, Statesboro, Ga.
