STATESBORO -- Elder Nathaniel "Pops" Hills Sr., age 87, passed peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The Bulloch County native was born to the late Lizzie Mae Lee Hills and James Prince Sr.

He was educated in the public school district of Bulloch County and later joined the United States Army.
At an early age, he gave his life to Christ. He was a member of New Church and Prayer Holiness, Inc. of Glennville, Ga.
He was preceded in death by two children, Emanuel Hills and Margetta Hills; and a sister, Lessie Durden.
He leaves to his memory: his wife, Evangelist Lizzie Mae Hills of Statesboro, Ga.; his children, Golda (John) Cross, Carla Freeman, Nakelya Hills, Conneilla Hills, all of Philadelphia, Pa., Gwenzelda Parker of Houston, Texas, Nathaniel Hills Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., Anthony Hills of Jacksonville, Fla., Ell Roy Hills of Alamo, Ga., and Emmanuel Hills of California; a sister, Amy Prince of Miami, Fla.; a brother, James (the Reverend Sarah) Prince of Statesboro, Ga.; 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, New Church and Prayer Holiness, Inc., church family and countless friends.
Public visitation for Elder Nathaniel Hills will be held noon-6 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2013.
The final tribute to his life will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church, 3 Peachtree Street, Statesboro, GA 30458, with Bishop Kenny Reynolds, officiating, and Prophetess Cynthia A. Reynolds, presiding. Interment: Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Glennville, Ga.
