CLAXTON, Ga. - Mrs. Ruby Brown Akins, age 87, died Saturday at the Evans Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Blitchton. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Lehman Akins; her daughter, Faye Akins; and her brother, Robert Brown.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Elaine Akins of Claxton and Gary and Sharon Akins of Jacksonville; one brother and sister-in-law, J.O. and Jenny Brown of Savannah; grandchildren, Shane Akins of Ellabell, Angie Holland of Lyons and Linda Thornton of Rincon; step grandchildren, Ashley Harvey of Collins, Lisa White of Jacksonville, Marie White of Jacksonville and Alan Young of Savannah; great-grandchildren, Brittney Cowart, Brandon Cowart, Adam Akins, Philip Akins; and several step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Bulloch Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Royce Hendry officiating.
