COBBTOWN - Rufus "Buck" Collins, 92, died Monday, August 27, 2007, at his home. He had lived in Tattnall County most of his life and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. Buck loved fishing and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Millard and Eva Collins; and a son-in-law, Mel Mock.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eva Mae Hendrix Collins; three sons, James R. "Buddy" Collins (Melita), Danny Ray Collins (Debra) and Larry Dean Collins (Betty Jo), all of Cobbtown; four daughters, Mary Alice Fields (Homer) of Normantown, Ga., Virginia, "Jenkie" Hart (James) of Statesboro, Mary Sue Collins of Cobbtown and Willette Mock of Rocky Ford; two brothers, Bill Collins of Marietta and Robert Collins of Atlanta; a sister, Tera Bell McGowan of Atlanta; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at 3 p.m. at the Cobbtown Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Leveritt and the Rev. K.C. Seabury officiating. Burial will be in the Sunlight Cemetery.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to funeral time.
Visitation was held on Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
