Virginia "Ginger" Albertin, age 86, formerly of Augusta, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at the Maple Lane Health Care Center, Township of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, Wisconsin.
Virginia was born on Sept. 12, 1927, in Augusta, Ga., the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Morris) Hitchcock. The Hitchcock family later moved to Sandusky, Ohio. There, Virginia met and married Robert Albertin on September 2, 1947. The couple first lived in Columbus, Ohio, until 1958 when they moved to Waukesha County, Wis. Virginia served as an informative tour guide at a working farm for school children for the Milwaukee Public School System, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. In the following years, the couple moved to Bluffton, S.C., and then Statesboro, Ga. Mr. Albertin preceded his wife in death in March of 2000 after 52 years of marriage.
Virginia eventually moved to Shawano, Wis., to be near her daughter, Susan Hatfield. Virginia enjoyed socializing, classic movies, loved animals and any outdoor activity, which included walking, bike riding, horseback riding and cross country skiing. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include: her daughters, Susan (Robert) Hatfield, Clintonville, Wis., Laurel Albertin, Hilton, Head, S.C.; her sons, Eric (Susan) Albertin, Milwaukee, Wis., Mark (Sarah) Albertin, Augusta, Ga.; her sister, Elizabeth Steineman, Sandusky, Ohio; six grandchildren, William (Rebecca) Hatfield, Steven (Erin) Hatfield, Valerie (Daniel) Pflughoeft, Michael Albertin, Sondra (Joseph) Reyes, Joanna (Mario) Saucedo; six great-grandchildren, Kaleb Hatfield, Andrew Hatfield, Aaron Blichfeldt, Olivia Hatfield, Abigail Saucedo, Rene Reyes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert Albertin; son, Craig Albertin; and daughter, Gail Delzer.
The memorial graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 16, 2013, in the Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, S.C.
Family and friends may gather at the cemetery prior to the service on Monday.
