SYLVANIA -– James Huel "Jim" Joyner, age 78, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his residence. He was born in Screven County, was a retired crop duster, airplane mechanic and instructor and was of the Baptist faith. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the Federal Aviation Administration. He was preceded in death by his son, James H. Joyner Jr.; parents, George Huel Joyner and Lessie Ola Cleland Joyner King; brother: Gene H. Joyner.

Survivors: wife, Hilda Diane Thompson Joyner of Sylvania; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Neil Berry of Graniteville, S.C., Jeannie Joyner and Ronnie North of Waynesboro, Ga., and Tasha and Roger Evans of Sylvania; son, Mikel Neidlinger of Sylvania; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, June 28, 2013, at 6-8 p.m. at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
Funeral service: Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Warren Devevo officiating.
