STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Myra Hunnicutt Hendrix, age 79, went home to be with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, February 23, 2014. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1952 honor graduate of Statesboro High School. Mrs. Hendrix was employed for 10 years with Life of Georgia Insurance Company and for several years with the library at Georgia Southern University. For 30 years, she, alongside her husband, farmed in the Middleground Community. It was evident in her everyday life, of her joy as a dedicated farmer's wife and a loving mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Hendrix was a charter member of the Lakeview Baptist Church for 37 years. She was a dedicated Sunday School teacher for 42 years.
Mrs. Hendrix was preceded in death by her husband, James Earl Hendrix Sr.; her parents, Alex Solomon and Bessie Flake Hunnicutt; a grandson, Wyatt Lanier; and two brothers, Lindsey Hunnicutt and Alec Hunnicutt.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James Earl Hendrix Jr. and Rita of Cairo and David and Sheri Hendrix of Statesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Linnie and Jim Lewis of Statesboro; a brother, Raymond Hunnicutt of Donalsonville; two sisters, Virginia Baird of Portal and Milledgeville and Sara Evans of Iron City; 11 grandchildren, Amy Hendrix, Melissa Howard, Deanna Upchurch, Dwight Lanier, Zachary Lanier, Greg McGahee, Jonathan McGahee, Brandon McGahee, J.D. Lewis, Sabrina Crittenden and Andrea Lewis; and 15 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Vangiller officiating. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Lane, Mark, Tim and Wade Hunnicutt, Lee Baird and Zach Lanier.
Honorary pallbearers will be Selma Miley, Ricky and Courtney Anderson and family, Ricky and Melanie Anderson, Paul and Alice Roberts and Paula Lanier.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion, 225 Candler Drive, Savannah, Ga. 31405; or the City of Refuge Ministry of Lakeview Baptist Church, 3492 Lakeview Road, Statesboro, Ga. 30458.
