BROOKLET, Ga. - Mr. William Gilbert Wilson, age 68, died Friday evening at his residence under the care of Gentiva Hospice. The Bulloch County native was a 1963 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. Following his graduation, Gilbert farmed and also began his 50 year career as a truck driver, primarily transporting produce. He lived most of his life in Brooklet but resided in Odum, Georgia for 15 years. He was a member of the Piney Grove Church of God in Odum.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, George Roy and Leola Manes Wilson and seven siblings; Ouida Rossman, Dorothy Geiger, Anna Belle Leopold, Loree Battaglia, Geraldine Powers, James Roy Wilson and Edwin Wilson.
Surviving are his wife, Frankie Watson Wilson of Brooklet; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kellen and Barbara Jean Wilson of Register and Jared and Katie Wilson of Brooklet; two step-daughters and their husbands, Bonnie and Greg Wilson of Brooklet and Gloria and Johnny Shuler of Bloomingdale; five grandsons, Brandon Wilson, Rick Wilson, Jordan Shearouse, Joshua Shuler, and Nick McConnell; three granddaughters, Cheyenne Wilson, Jenna Schuman and Lilly Wilson; his great grandchildren, Jace Shuler, Hayleigh Wilson, McKenzie Schuman and Nova McConnell and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Roger Heaton of Hartwell, Janice Nance of Statesboro and Martha Floyd Wilson and Toby Wilson of Brooklet.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. James Lord officiating.
Interment will be in the Brooklet City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Randy Powers, Jimmy Wilson, Wyeman Wilson, Jonathan Floyd, Kevin Heaton, Chris Heaton, Greg Wilson and Ashton Wilson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Sergio Fonseca, Emory Roberts, James Sanders, James Fail, Ray Watson and Jimmy Nessmith.
