STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Martha Sue Cagle Lowe, age 86, died Monday morning at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. The Gainesville, Ga., native lived in Atlanta and Marietta, Ga., for many years. In 1974, she and her family moved to Statesboro due to the transfer of her husband's job with ITT Grinnell. Upon the opening of Cooper-Wiss, Sue began her employment there until retiring in 1990.
She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Gainesville.
She had a passion for music, especially gospel music. Sue loved flowers, quilting, reading and caring for animals.
Mrs. Lowe was preceded in death by her parents, George M. Cagle and Ruby Anna Jordan Cagle; her husband, George Robert Lowe; and a son, Johnny Robert Lowe Sr.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Lowe Austin and Steven E. Austin of Sylvania and Susan Lowe Jones and Walter L. Jones of Cary, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Keith Lowe and Donna Grainger Lowe of Statesboro; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Brandon and Elizabeth Jones, all of Cary, N.C., Jordan Lowe of Sylvania, Judson Lowe of Statesboro, Jessica Lowe of Stockbridge, Johnny Lowe Jr. of Mableton and Amanda Lowe of Loganville; three great-grandchildren, Savana Lowe, Tori Lowe and Lily Lowe; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Madge Cagle of Gainesville and Virginia and Richard Mattson of Jacksonville, Fla.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
