STATESBORO, Ga. -- Ms. Jean Dickerson Pye, age 74, died Thursday morning at Meadows Regional Hospital in Vidalia. The Screven County native was a graduate of Screven County High School and a graduate of Georgia Southern College, where she received her bachelor of education. She was employed with the Bulloch County Board of Education, where she worked at Southeast Bulloch High School and Statesboro High School. Jean was active for many years with the FBLA and had served as the chapter advisor. She worked for several years as an accountant and bookkeeper for several Bulloch County businesses until opening her own practice in Brooklet. She became a Mary Kay consultant in 1991.

Jean had resided in Sylvania, Brooklet and Statesboro most of her life until becoming a resident of the Bethany Home in Vidalia in October of 2013.
Ms. Pye was a member of the Merrywood Baptist Church in Statesboro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward D. Dickerson and Launa Boyd Dickerson; and a brother, Melvin Dickerson.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Don Brigdon of Lincolnton and Kay and Brian McElveen of Springfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Sharon Pye of Brooklet; four grandchildren, Chelsey Pye of Martinez, Joshua McElveen and Caleb McElveen, both of Springfield, and Rebecca Brigdon of Lincolnton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Judy and Walter Pezanowski of Isle of Palms, S.C., and Lynn Dickerson of Rincon; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Harold and Brenda Dickerson of Springfield, Jimmy and Linda Dickerson of Sylvania and Ann Holland of Savannah. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The graveside service and burial will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in McBride United Methodist Church Cemetery in Sylvania, Georgia, with the Rev. Rusty Manning officiating.
