BROOKLET, Ga. -- Mr. Isiah "Ike" Howard Jr. passed into eternal rest on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at the East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Newark, N.J., but resided in Brooklet, Ga., for many years.

Mr. Howard leaves to cherish fond memories: his daughter, Ms. Charlette Metcalf of Charlotte, N.C.; his mother, Mrs. Mary V. Black of Norfolk, Va.; stepdaughter, Ms. Ernestine Fudge, Statesboro, Ga.; stepsons, Mr. Arvie Fudge (Maria) and Mr. Demetrius Fudge (Tabatha) of Newark, N.J.; sisters, Ms. Frances L. Headen of Newark, N.J., Ms. Marilyn Traynham of Norfolk, Va., and Mrs. Gwendolyn C. Bratheaite of Rock Hill, S.C.; brothers, Mr. Terry Black of Bethlehem, Pa., and Mr. Phillip Black of California; a mother-in-law, Mrs. Sophie Akins (David) of Brooklet, Ga.; a special grandson, Mr. Jihad Fudge of Statesboro, Ga.; other grandchildren that were also dear to him, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Mr. Howard will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014, in the Ben Samuel Hill Memorial Chapel of Hill's Mortuary, 58 Packinghouse Road, Statesboro, GA 30458.
Final rites have been entrusted to Hill's Mortuary, Inc.
