PEMBROKE, Ga. - Mrs. Frances Smith Floyd, age 80, passed away on Thursday, January 27th, 2011, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was born July 12th, 1930, in Miami, Fla., to Esla and Marion Smith. Mrs. Floyd lived most of her life in Bulloch County. She was a former school bus driver, homemaker and was employed with M&M Accounting. Mrs. Floyd was a member of the Lawrence Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Carol Floyd; her parents, Esla and Marion Smith; three sisters, Corinne Stewart, Gloria Hughes, Genevee Moore; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany and James White.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Patti Floyd of Pembroke and Carol Floyd Jr. of Springfield; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Steve Wharton of Indiana; five grandchildren, David Tolbert (Armanda) of Brooklet, Christy Mock (Jim), Dendee Scott (Brian) and Amber Floyd, all of Springfield, and Megan Floyd of Savannah; seven great-grandchildren, Steven and Devin Tolbert, Dixie Burnsed, Harleigh Mock, Courtney and Nikki Scott and Kenzie Floyd; three step grandchildren, Justin, Logan and Kelsey Mock; two sisters, Aleen Melton (Willard) and Pam Scroggs, both of Savannah; and special family and friends, Janell Bowen, Sandra Miller, both of Brooklet, Diane Dykes of Pooler and Patti Stewart of Claxton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 30th, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
The funeral service will be Monday, January 31st, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the Lawrence Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert Hill officiating, assisted by the Rev. Albert Hodges.
The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery with the Rev. Doug McCart officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mike Buchan, Shawn Bowen, Richard Floyd, Brian Scott, Glen Kangetter, John Williams, Jim Mock and Dink Butler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buie Miller, Bill Cannady, Hubert Terrell, Neil Terrell, Darral Durrence, Levoughn Durrence, Wade Durrence, Wendall Stewart, Robert Neil, Graylin Smith and Ronald Melton.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
