Joseph L. "Joe" Watkins Jr., age 63, passed away Thursday at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital in Savannah. He worked at Sheppard Lumber Company as a mill manager for 14 years. Joe attended Old Fellowship Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on the Watkins' family lake property. He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Watkins.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Clark Watkins of Statesboro; his children, Angie Rush of Alabama, Lee (Jennifer) Watkins of Claxton, Lisa Watkins and Kayla Watkins, both of Statesboro; his brother, Richard (Pam) Watkins of Pembroke; his sisters, Pam (Buddy) Croft of Pembroke and Nancy (Ray) Whitten of Savannah; his grandchildren, Danielle, Briana, Aydin, Kaitlynn, Colton, Ethan, Hannah, Coda, Kaleb and Krysta; his stepdaughters, Katrina (Joshua) Burdick of Valdosta and Melissa (Ashley) Cole of Midway; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The memorial service will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Old Fellowship Baptist Church with Dr. Reland Morgan and Rev. Robert Black officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis Cancer Research Pavillion, Savannah, Ga. or to St. Jude's.
Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
