STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Lucille Ann "Lue" DeGroot Oldmixon, age 85, died on October 27, 2013, at her son's residence in Statesboro, Ga., under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The New York native was a 1946 graduate of Woodmere High School and a member of the Woodmere Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She also sang at special events. Mrs. Oldmixon lived in New York until 1954, moved to Pennsylvania, then to Lincolnton, Ga., in 1992. She was a homemaker and a foster parent to many children over the years. She was a member of the Lincolnton United Methodist Church and was active in the Women's Guild. She loved music, reading and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Oldmixon; parents, George and Jenet DeGroot; two sisters, Audrey Wells and Jean Moleno; and a brother, George DeGroot.

Surviving are her children, Nan (Jeff) Williams of Belington, W. Va., John Oldmixon of Statesboro, Ga., Bruce (Debbie) Oldmixon of Hartwell, Ga., and Julie (Richard) Vollman of Hartwell, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Lee (Rick) Casares of South Carolina, Eddie (Ji) Pasko of Multeko, Wash., Abby (Forrest) Daves of Conway, S.C., Andy (Thelma Jo) Pasko of W. Va., Connie Oldmixon of Statesboro, Ga., David, Christian and Alex Vollman of Hartwell, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Kevin and Keith Casares of South Carolina, Amelia Pasko of Multeko, Wash., Dawson Daves of Conway, S.C., and Andrew Pasko of W. Va.; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Oldmixon of Florida.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Darby officiating.
A visitation will follow the service.
