Mary Bess (Dusek) Cain Mary Bess (Dusek) Cain, 83, of Thrall passed away on Sunday August 10, 2008 at a Bartlett nursing home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday August 13, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, Taylor with Dr. Travis Summerlin officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday August 12, 2008 at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor. Mary Cain was born on July 2, 1925 in Temple, Texas to Joseph Dusek Jr. and Bessie (Caswell )Dusek. She married Jimmie Cain Sr. on August 20, 1948 and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2002. She received a bachelor's degree at the Texas Women's University and a master's degree at the Southwest Texas State Teachers College. She was a member of the Xi Chapter-Delta Kappa Gamma, member of the Texas Retired Teachers and Williamson County Retired Teachers Association. She began her teaching career in Thrall and taught homemaking for 39 years. She was an Advisor for Taylor and Thralls Progressive Young Homemakers. She was a Charter member of Thrall Volunteer Fireman's Auxiliary. She was an active member and Sunday School teacher of Thrall United Methodist Church of Thrall for many years. Survivors are three sons, Jimmie Cain Jr. and wife Debra of Bartlett, Bobby Jack Cain of Pawley's Island, SC, Johnnie Cain and wife Lynn of Round Rock; one daughter, Pamela Cain of Austin; one sister, Dorothy Keown of Temple; five grandchildren, Derek, Lance, Adam, Ryan and Rachel and special friends, Margaret Nell Olson and Marie Wernecke. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant sister. Pallbearers will be Allen Ray David, Jerry Fleming, Jack Jordan, Gordan Dickerson, Billy Carlson and Newton Butts. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Herzer, Werner Dally and David Smith. Burial will be in Lawrence Chapel Cemetery. Condra Funeral Home of Taylor is in charge of arrangements.

My condolences for the family and friends of Mary Bess Cain.
As an alumnus of Texas State (then Southwest Texas State Teachers College), she will be honored at our annual Bobcat Pause Memorial Service next April 15, 2009, and we would like to invite your family to be a part of the ceremony. Bobcat Pause is held each spring to remember the Texas State faculty, staff, students and alumni who have passed away during the preceding year.
