TERRY, Elizabeth Kirksey - Austin
TERRY, Elizabeth Kirksey Elizabeth Kirksey Terry passed away on April 20, 2016. For the past two years, she battled cancer with a tenacity of spirit, even as she underwent two craniotomies in the span of a month. Her passing was made easier by the unconditional love of her friends and family: her dear friends Julie and Michael Watkins, her brave niece, Louisa, her sisters, Susannah and Caroline, lifelong friends, Cece Feltman and Mallory Leitner, and good friend, Rhonda McCullough. Known to her friends and family as Lizzie, she was cherished by all those who had the pleasure to meet and know her. Elizabeth guided, consoled, and cared for many during her life. Much like her father, Thomas D. Kirksey, a surgeon, Elizabeth mended broken hearts. She had no equal for soothing hysteria. It was the sweetness of her tongue and the tenderness of her spirit. For more than sixteen years, Lizzie was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Her own intimate experience with alcoholism allowed her to lovingly shepherd those in need to brighter pastures. Always the exceptional and organized employee, she was similarly loved and respected by her friends at Accenture. She was also an avid lover of animals, and volunteered much of her time to the local PAWS shelter. Above all else, Lizzie was a proud and loving mother and doting grandmother. Over the past two years she resided with her son, Christopher Thomas Simons, his wife, Aubrey, and their two daughters, Penelope and Abigail in Kyle, TX. Those years were a treasure to her, full of laughter, love, and many hugs. Especially, her time with her girls, watching movies with a hearty helping of Pirate's Booty, playing in the backyard, and many trips to the Dollar Store. She is survived by her son, Christopher Thomas Simons and his wife, Aubrey Simons, their two daughters, Penelope Lee Simons and Abigail Elizabeth Simons, her mother, Gene Kirksey, her sisters, Jeanne Kirksey Perez, Susannah D. Kirksey, and Caroline Kirksey-Munger. Her nieces and nephews are Louisa Kirksey, Max and Isabella Perez, and Jeffery Thomas Munger. All is well. You will be missed. The pain of parting is nothing to the joy of meeting again. Obituary and memorial guestbook available online at www.wcfish.com
