Andrew Karl Messamore MD RPh, (Andy) was born the only child of Leslie and Sue Ellen Messamore on June 12, 1956 at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Raised in Austin, Andy was a 1974 graduate of Austin Crockett High School and attended the University of Texas
at Austin. While an undergraduate, Andy was a trumpeter for the Texas Longhorn Band under the direction of Vincent R. Dinino. Upon earning an undergraduate degree in biochemistry, Andy continued his education at the University of Texas School of Pharmacy in San Antonio. After practicing pharmacy for a year Andy applied to the University Medical Branch at Galveston, where he was a member of several academic societies and a fraternity. Andy's medical residency began at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas and continued at Hermann Hospital in Houston. As a resident anesthesiologist, Andy regularly operated with the legendary heart surgeon Denton Cooley. In Temple he met a nurse who would later become the love of is life, Suzanne Ford, and the two married on August 23, 1986. Andy and Suzanne had one son, Andrew Ford Messamore (Drew), who was born on June 19, 1993. Andy and his family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1990, where Andy practiced medicine at Medical City Dallas. Andy left anesthesiology due to illness in 2000, and began to practice alternative medicine. He was an expert in herbal medicinals and studied acupuncture. Andy applied this knowledge as an expert panelist on the Dr. Phil show in October 2005, and was once honored to consult on the treatment of a world famous entertainer. Andy was an semi professional photographer, and photographed weddings and family portraiture for friends and relatives. He travelled extensively. After 12 years of illness, Andy died on October 25, 2012. A memorial will be held in Dallas on November 10. Andy helped save lives and always sacrificed his own needs to help others. Andy was preceeded in death by his parents, and is survived by his son.
