Celia Donna BUNTIN

BUNTIN, Donna

Celia Donna Buntin was born April 8, 1927 in Amory, Mississippi to Erskine and Celia Wiygul. Later, Donna and her family moved to Hernando, Mississippi, where she graduated from Hernando High School. She attended Hunnngton College in Alabama for two years before transferring to the University of Mississippi where she graduated in 1949.

Donna taught school in Arkansas before moving to Dallas, Texas where she became a flight attendant for Braniff airlines. Donna met her first husband, Robert "Bob" Mullarkey, at the Dallas Country Club and they married in 1953. Donna and Bob loved to dance together and host neighborhood pot luck dinners.

Donna was a substitute teacher for many years in the Richardson School District and received a Master's Degree in special education from Texas Women's University. She taught special education classes at Berkner High School in Richardson. Donna and Bob, Sr. eventually divorced. Many years later Donna ran into a classmate from Hernando who was living in Fort Worth at the time. After a yearlong courtship Donna married Bill Buntin in 1987.

Donna and Bill lived in Ft. Worth for 10 years, where she joined the Ft. Worth Women's Club, participated in social activities and enjoyed ceramics and tole painting. They moved to Sun City Georgetown in 1997 where they made many friends and played bridge with several groups. She volunteered for her church, knitting booties and newborn blankets for children in Guatemala. Donna especially enjoyed having her grandchildren visit her every summer to attend Sun City children's camp. After Bill passed away in 2005, Donna continued in several bridge clubs and enjoyed participating in other groups, such as her "lunch bunch". She also volunteered at the Georgetown City library.

Donna suffered a stroke in May of this year and after hospitalization and rehabilitation, moved to Emeritus at Spicewood Springs in Austin, where she continued to enjoy social activities and meet friends. Donna is preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Mullarkey, Sr. and her second husband, Bill Buntin. She is survived by three daughters Cam Mullarkey, Nora Mullarkey Miller and her husband Ed, and Julie Mullarkey, all of Austin, one son Bob Mullarkey of Coppell, Texas and his wife Tonya, and three grandchildren Michael Mullarkey, Mandy Mullarkey, and Maggie Miller. Donna also had many dear friends in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area as well as Georgetown and loved traveling and spending time with them whenever she could.

Donna's children would like to thank the staff at Emeritus at Spicewood Springs for taking such good care of their mother and Hospice Austin for their words of wisdom and comfort.
