Eleanor Cook Pettersen

Eleanor Cook Pettersen Eleanor Pettersen passed away May 6, 2013 in New Braunfels at the age of 99 years. She was born in Lee County near Lexington, TX to Frank and Vada Cook. After graduating from Hearne High School in 1931, she attended Mary Hardin Baylor and the University of Texas at Austin. She worked as an elementary teacher and later a file clerk for the DPS in Austin. During World War II, she worked as a clerk with the FBI in Washington, D.C. She married Rudolph Pettersen on March 12, 1944. When the war ended, they moved to Round Rock and became owners of Pettersen's Grocery and Market. She was active in her children's schools, and an officer in Lutheran Church Women and American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Pettersen, and two brothers: Millard Cook of Tulsa, OK and Cecil Cook of Austin. She is survived by her son Larry "Pete" Pettersen and wife Nancy of Spring Branch and daughter Lynn Skarovsky and husband Jim of New Braunfels. She also leaves three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Beck's Funeral Home in Round Rock on Friday, May 10 between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Palm Valley Lutheran Church, 2500 Palm Valley Blvd. in Round Rock. Burial will be at the Palm Valley Cemetery following the church service.
