Gary O'Brien Barron January 27, 1939 - July 27, 2013
Gary was a loving and generous man who embraced life. He served in the US Marine Corps
and graduated from the University of Texas
, Austin. Gary's professional career included system engineer with IBM, commercial real estate broker in California and systems analyst with Texas Department of Human Services. He described living on Lake Travis as "magical." Gary was an avid disc golf player. While he didn't discover "the most wonderful sport" until he retired, he never missed an opportunity to promote the game. Gary eventually turned professional, proudly competing in the Legends Division of the PDGA. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jeanine Williams Barron; his brother and wife, Jim and Brenda Barron, and their three sons and daughter, of Austin, and his sister, Mary Beth Barron, and her three sons, of Encinitas, CA. and their loving companion, Obi. In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends. Donations in memory of Gary may be made to the Austin Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, or Hospice Austin which provided compassionate care during his brief illness. A remembrance service to celebrate Gary's life will be held September 28, 2013 at Westlake United Methodist Church at 2:00 in the afternoon.
