George Walter Guidry

George Walter Guidry George Walter Guidry of Buda, Texas died early Sunday morning, Dec. 2, 2012, from natural causes. He is survived by wife of 35 years, Oe Suk; two daughters, Andrea Tiras of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Kathryn Polonczyk of Elsinboro, New Jersey; five grandchildren, Sterling and Jordan Tiras and Alan, Danielle and Alexandra Poloncyk; his brother, Melvin Guidry; and two sisters, Theda Barclay and Mary Francis Rack. George was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Jan. 2, 1935, the first baby born in Lake Charles in 1935. His family later moved to Beaumont, Texas where he graduated from Beaumont High School. George attended Lamar College before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant before retiring from the military. He especially enjoyed his military service when he was overseas. The friends he made and the adventures he had were truly wonderful. He always said that if he could re-enlist, he would, with any armed forces. After retiring from the military, he continued to work for the government for another 20 years. George enjoyed the game of golf, which his father taught him to appreciate from a very early age.
