Janet Jones of Hutto, Texas, sailed on the wings of a homesick angel Sunday June 9th, 2013 to be with our Lord and Savior. Janet was born October 1st, 1948 to Sarah Mozelle Grant Kimble and Roy Herbert Kimble, Sr., in Fort Worth, Texas. She was proud of the lineage of her family to Ulysses S. Grant and to her great-great grandfather H.S. Kimble Secretary of the Texas Republic for which Kimble County is named. At an early age Janet received her calling to teach. She held classes in her backyard at age 8 to many willing and unwilling victims. She graduated high school from Paschal in Fort Worth, received her B.A. from Trinity University, Magna Cum Laude, where she was in later years elected International Alumni President and served as its representative to the Board of Trustees many years. She received her Master's from the Univ of Texas Magna Cum Laude and was 3 hours from completing her PhD there also. She received a Taft Fellowship and studied abroad at the Univ. of London. Her teaching career ended at Hutto High School abruptly March 1st when breast cancer
metastasized itself to her brain and other internal organs. She never lost her fight until June 9th when the Great Physician who told her she was fearfully and wonderfully made healed her forever! Her career prior to that time found her as a home bound teacher at the ripe old age of 20 there in Fort Worth, Dunbar H.S. In Fort Worth, Sheldon Tx I.S.D. Curriculum Director at Kealing for Austin I.S.D., Round Rock High School, and finally Hutto High School. She enjoyed her time spent with State Farm Insurance 3 summers working in Fire Claims in the teacher intern program. Janet was a magnificent chef, Grand Champion of the Austin American-Statesman twice, and a finalist twice. She taught the 5 levels of Disciples, Worked in various capacities of the Emmaus community and loved her involvement with St. John's United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Tx. She was honored twice as Who's Who in America of Notable Women, twice as Notable Texas Women, Teacher of the Year, District Teacher of the Year, Who's Who Among America's Teachers and Notable Republicans with her husband Jeff as a member of the U.S. Senatorial committee by both Presidents Reagan and G.H.W. Bush. She, with Jeff were appointed by Governors White and Richards to boards involving the homeless. She is survived by her mother, husband of 36 years, Jeff L. Jones, her sister Dale Kimble Nelson and her husband Ralph, her brother Roy all of Fort Worth. Lots of nieces and nephews and tons of extended family. Arrangements are being made by Beck Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Tx, where their website guest book is available for Janet. A memorial service is being held at 1st United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Tx at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 15th, 2013 with Rev. Ron Bellomy officiating assisted by Rev. Bill Henderson, District Supt. of Kerrville, Tx. Memorial in lieu of flowers can be made to the Janet Kimble Jones scholarship fund c/o Hutto, Tx I.S.D.
