Kara Rebecca Whitaker Hudson
This world is a little dimmer after losing a shining star and a very special wife, mother and daughter, Kara Rebecca Whitaker Hudson, who passed into God's arms on December 30, 2012, after battling a month-long illness. In her 31 years, Kara touched the lives and brought joy to many people who knew and loved her. She was born in Austin, Texas, on January 21, 1981, spent her early childhood in Nederland, Texas, then lived in Dripping Springs during her teenage years. The Hudson family resides in Buda, where Kara was involved at her children's schools, has been active in the annual Camp Ben Reunion as a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy, volunteered with the Kyle 4-H organization, and supported the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She leaves behind the man she loved more than half of her life, husband Delton Hudson, and their three children to whom she was completely devoted - Gracyan, Delton Riley and Addyson. Other survivors are father and stepmother, Brook and Dale Whitaker of Dripping Springs, mother Rebecca Authement of Port Neches, brother Devin Morgan of Port Neches, sister Kaylin Whitaker of Dripping Springs, parents-in-law Delton and Cindi Hudson of Buda, sister-in-law Natalie Gaston and husband Will of Buda, brother-in-law Dustin Hudson and wife Lisa of Buda, and grandparents Tom and Liz Hanna of Nederland and Dot Hudson of Johnson City, as well as nephews and a niece, aunts, uncles, cousins in the Hudson, Whitaker and Hanna families and many friends. She was preceded in death by grandparents Curly and Betty Whitaker, John Wayne Cammack, and W.A. "Cotton" Hudson. Her family and friends will celebrate her life with visitation and a memorial service this week. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 2, from 6-8 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle. The memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Dripping Springs on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m., followed by burial at Puryear Cemetery in Dripping Springs. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kara Whitaker Hudson Memorial Fund to help support her children's future at Pioneer Bank in Dripping Springs.
