Katherine E. Arnold

Cook Walden - Chapel of the Hills - Funerals & Cremations

Katherine E. Arnold 1916 - 2007 Katherine was born February 15, 1916 at Pontiac, Michigan. She died April 15, 2007 in Austin, Texas. She was a beautiful, talented and gifted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, known to all the younger generations as "Granny." She was married June 26, 1934 to Victor Arnold who predeceased her in 2002. She is now at peace. Katherine grew up in Rockford, Illinois and graduated from high school there. She and Vic were married shortly after her graduation and lived in Illinois for over 25 years, raising their two sons there. They then decided to take a risk and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to operate a Karmel-Korn shop for several years. After leaving that venture, Katherine excelled at her greatest passion: designing and sewing. For many years she made show costumes for some of the hotels in Ft. Lauderdale, gaining an appreciation for style and flair along the way. When she and Vic retired, they moved to Austin to be closer to their family in this area. Granny became a full time grandmother and community volunteer, while still sewing for her own satisfaction and becoming proficient at quilt-making. Katherine is survived by her two sons, Vic Arnold of Austin and Dave Arnold of US Virgin Islands. She is also survived by her sister Liz Tolten of Floral City, FL; her daughter-in-law Marie Arnold of Austin; brother-in-law Chuck Tolten of Floral City, FL; six grandchildren: Lori Haustein (husband Steve) of Friendswood, TX, Mike Arnold of Austin, Carrie Caesar of San Antonio, Dave Arnold II (wife Joanne) of Cumberland, RI, Leslie Arnold of San Antonio, and Danielle Watson (husband Bill) of Ocala, FL. Granny also loved to be with her 10 great-grandchildren: Kimberly, Jeff, Ashley, Callie, Jessica, Logan, Christian, Grace, Lydia and Cody. We will all miss her as will all her many friends. Katherine was predeceased by her husband, her parents and three brothers. A memorial service honoring Katherine and her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 in the chapel at Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Road. In lieu of flowers the family recommends a donation in her name to the charity of your choice.
