Lena Catherine Beck

Lena Catherine Beck Lena Catherine Beck, 84, beloved mom and grandmother, passed away September 5, 2012. She was a lifelong resident of the rural and close knit community of Rockne, Texas and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1949 she married the love of her life, Alois Beck. After his death in 1972, she dedicated the remainder of her life to their nine children, instilling in them nothing but reassurances of love as well as lessons of strength, perseverance, and great compassion for others. To the children and grandchildren, she was more than just a mother and grandmother. She was our mentor, our best friend, and the joy and center of our lives. Our love for her and our gratitude to her for so many reasons is beyond measure. Mom was our everyday inspiration and example of Christian living. From her, we learned to trust that with God, all things are possible. Mom was young at heart and had a great love for life and for other people, especially young people. Her positive attitude radiated and she touched many lives throughout the years with her warm smile or just a simple kind word. She was always ready to offer help and give encouragement and hope when it was most needed. She spoke often with great fondness of growing up in the faith-filled community of Rockne and the times shared with the many cousins that lived nearby, whom she loved dearly. Thank you all for these precious memories which she cherished. Lena left an indelible mark on all of those who knew her in this life. Although we shall miss her greatly, her spirit will live on forever in our hearts and in our minds. Preceding her in death was her beloved spouse, Alois Beck, parents John and Katie Goertz, brothers Walter, Henry, Alvin and Michael "Beto" Goertz, sister Ida Grohman, and lastly, her longtime faithful canine companion "Bo". She is survived by her nine children and their spouses, Lloyd Beck (Gracie), Cathy Lessing (George), Barbara Kessel (Terry), Cindy Cox (Mike), Paula Dzenowski (Richard), Tim Beck (Cheryl), Daniel Beck (Margie), Matthew Beck (Sherry), and Mary Beck Hagen (Foster). She is also survived by a blessing of numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and many others who always lovingly referred to her as "Grandma Beck". Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockne, Texas. Funeral services will also be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday, September 10th at 10:30 a.m.
