BAKER, Lloyd Vinson
Lloyd Vinson Baker, Financial Examiner for the Texas Department of Banking, formerly affiliated with the Austin Metropolitan Financial Credit Union died on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at his residence in Leander after a lengthy illness. He was fifty-four. Lloyd was born in Andrews, Texas, on February 28, 1959. He became a steadfast Austinite in 1968, attending Travis Elementary, Porter Junior High, and in his freshman year, during its last year as a high school, at the old Austin High School campus. During his eighth grade year he served as a Page in the Texas House of Representatives throughout the 1973 legislative session.
A family move took him to Edinburg High School and then back to Austin and the University of Texas
where he graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
Lloyd found beauty through the lenses of his camera and telescope and left behind a large assemblage of arresting pictures from his travels to national parks, historical sights, the night skies, and Austin skylines. They, his work, his family, and challenging projects were what made his heart sing.
Surviving Lloyd are his parents Priscilla and Gillespie (Bud) Baker, sister Lynn (Pat) Foradory, brother Leland (Colleen) Baker, nephews and nieces Jason, Madeline, Jackson, Ashley, Heidi, and John, his aunt, Esther Solis, and his uncle Ken Vinson, as well as numerous members of his extended family.
Interment will be private. Donations in memory of Lloyd may be made to The
or the donor's favorite charity.
