RuthAnn BROWN Obituary

BROWN, RuthAnn RuthAnn Brown was born loud and proud on March 22, 1965 in Austin, Texas and stayed strong to her last days - a Clarksville native, through and through. She never met a stranger, rarely held her tongue, and could wake the dead with her laughter. Anyone who knew RuthAnn adored RuthAnn. She was a force to be reckoned with - passionate about family, community, Jesus and the Cowboys. Honest to a fault. Outspoken is an understatement. She had a powerful way of connecting with people, regardless of age, color, neighborhood or persuasion. From the basketball court, to the school bus, to the playground, RuthAnn was a true ambassador of unity, throughout her childhood days at Matthews Elementary, through O Henry Junior High, and well past Stephen F. Austin High School. If she noticed you, she saw you, right through you, and, with lots of laughter and teasing, she reminded you that you are special. During her youthful, working years, she was excited to be engaged in the legal field, serving in law firms, the DA's office and Travis County courts. No doubt, she made a strong impression wherever she went. For the last eight years, RuthAnn has been dedicated to caring for her sister, gathering family history and crusading for the spirit of her neighborhood. Like her mama, she was an activist in her soul. Her latest campaign was to personally encourage every last member of Clarksville to come together and connect, as all the families had done during RuthAnn's growing-up years. Faces and ages and houses and incomes have changed, but she sincerely believed a strong community could be salvaged in the midst of this tide. Her mind, hands and heart were always working toward this goal. Ultimately, that heart gave out, decades too soon, and she breathed her last breath on October 21, 2017. Her big, bright smile will be deeply missed here. And, surely, it will be enthusiastically welcomed in the Kingdom. Father, Eugene Brown, passed before RuthAnn's birth. Dear mother, Pauline Brown, departed in 2009. She is survived by her big sister and brothers - Paulette "Pumpkin" Brown, Eugene Harold Brown, Jr. ("Jackie"), & Archie Waylon Brown; her nephew Andre Lamont Brown, and a large extended family. Flowers can be delivered on Friday to 1300 E 12th Street, Austin, TX with Public Viewing 3PM-7PM. The Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM on Saturday, October 28th at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Manning officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. Go to www.alcbf.com for greater information. RuthAnn's family has selected Dr. Barry J.W. "The Shepherd" Franklin, CFSP at A Life Celebration By Franklin to fulfill her final earthly celebration with great excellence. For those moved to honor RuthAnn through memorial donations, please give to the restoration of her beloved Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church, 1725 West 11th, Austin, TX 78703.
