Lois Kasper Obituary

Lois Zwerneman Kasper May 20, 1925 - January 23, 2011 Lois Bertha Kasper passed on to heaven peacefully on Sunday, the 23rd of January, with her family by her side. She was 85 years old. She joins her husband, Herbert, her parents Fritz and Louise Zwerneman, and her infant son, Kim. Lois was born in Lincoln, Texas. She married her husband, Herbert, in Giddings, TX on August 19, 1943. They moved to Amarillo, then to Seguin and then on to Giddings where they lived for 20 years. They then moved to Austin in 1965 where she resided until the time of her death. She made many life-long friends along the way. Lois had many professions; florist, nanny, cosmetic counselor and housewife. She also ran a daycare in Austin. All the children called her "Memaw" and she never met a child she didn't love. But her most important job was taking care of her husband. The things she enjoyed most were fishing, playing cards and dominoes and she spent many hours doing both with family and friends. She never caught a fish that was too small to keep. She continued to play cards or dominoes every Friday night with her brothers and sister until she was no longer able. Her family and her faith were the most important things in her life. She was famous for her homemade noodles, pickles, fried chicken and cookies. She made these for friends, family and neighbors every chance she got. Lois was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. She joined Faith Lutheran church when they moved to Austin and has been a member for the past 45 years. Her faith brought her great comfort. She is loved by all who remain; one son, Sydney Kasper and his wife Esther, three daughters, Susan McGinnis, Barbie Evans and her husband Dick, and Becky Herrin and her husband Charles. She leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, all who brought her great joy. She also leaves behind a sister, Alice Bridges, and brothers, Fred Zwerneman and his wife Joyce, Leroy Zwerneman and his wife Lavern, Billy Zwerneman and his wife Patsy, James Zwerneman and his wife Jean, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all her caregivers at Pflugerville Care Center and to the staff at Lighthouse Altenheim Hospice, for making our last days together a time that will always be remembered. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 25th of January, at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 North Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas. Funeral Services are to be conducted on Wednesday, the 26th of January, at ten o'clock in the morning, at Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow Avenue, Austin, Texas, with the interment to follow at Giddings City Cemetery at two o'clock in the afternoon, in Giddings, Texas. The family suggests donations be directed to Lighthouse Hospice 100 North College, Round Rock, Texas 78664, or Faith Lutheran Church 6600 Woodrow Avenue, Austin, Texas 78757. To My Family,

it's tough, but today we'll start the healing. There are so many memories and she did so much for all of us. When things went wrong she was the first person I called, And I'll continue to do this. We'll miss her but we'll get through this. She gave us such a strong family bond. Please don't worry, Mom. We'll take care of each other. Rest peacefully... you deserve it.

My love always,
Becky

Dear Sydney, Susie, Barbie, Becky and families.
Your Mom was a sweet, kind and lovely lady who never uttered an unkind word. To know her was to love her. It was always a pleasure to be in her company.
May your pleasant memories and the knowledge that she is at peace bring you comfort during this time of grief.
Love to all,
Cousin LaVerne Dancak
