Kay Gaskill-Jaeger Obituary

Kay Gaskill-Jaeger Kay Gaskill-Jaeger, 61, died on November 27, 2010 in Pflugerville, Texas at her home from heart failure after a lengthily illness. Her family was by her side. Kay was a resident of Pflugerville for 25 years. She was born in Galveston, Texas and attended elementary and high school in La Marque, Texas. After which she graduated with highest honors from College of the Mainland majoring in studio art. She transferred to the University of Texas at Austin and received a BFA in art history with highest honors. She continued in graduate school at the University of Texas's Institute of Latin American Studies and received a MA in Latin American Art History in 1978. Then she moved to Pleasant Hill, California with her husband and lived for two years working on her art, while he worked at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. She returned to Austin, Texas and resumed graduate studies in urban planning. Then she worked in the planning department for the Texas State Parks Department for four years, with her experience developing the Parks database, she joined Execucom Software Company to work with company databases for financial management software. She worked for Execucom for four years and retired due to arthritis preventing her from carrying out her work. In her retirement, she continued her artwork and developed into an accomplished quilter. She completed over 200 quilts for family, friends and charity organizations. She made dinosaur quilts for many family and friends that became the joy of many young children. Kay is survived by her children, Patrick Robert Jaeger and Carrie A. Jaeger, both of Central Texas; her husband, Stephen Jaeger of Pflugerville; her sister, Ann Gaskill of La Marque; her close friend for 60 years and numerous relatives in the Houston and Dallas areas. The family wishes to thank Carol Garcia for the loving attention she gave to Kay this last year. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. and a Vigil with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday December 2, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church; both locations are in Pflugerville, Texas.
