Bernice Germer Obituary


Bernice Schmidt Germer Bernice Schmidt Germer, 85, of Maxwell, died peacefully on January 20, 2007 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by her family. After graduating from high school, she married F.A. (Fritzie) Germer, Jr., in 1939, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. Bernice was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, particularly on holidays. She was known for her cheerful disposition, caring nature and wonderful cooking skills. She was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church of Maxwell for 65 years, serving as church organist, choir director, and committed volunteer, and was also active in the Maxwell community for over half a century. For several years she was the Secretary of Germania Local Chapter #125. Bernice will be remembered by her family for her faith, caring and generosity, which extended beyond her family to friends and community. Her life of service will continue to inspire all who knew her. Bernice is survived by her children Gary L. Germer, Rodney Germer and wife Lisa, Bruce E. Germer and wife Peggy, and Lou Ann McMillen and husband Rob, as well as eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband and infant daughter. Visitation will be at Eeds Funeral Home, Lockhart, from 6-8pm on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at l0:00 am Wednesday, January 23rd at Maxwell Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Maxwell Ebenezer Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
