Family-Placed Obituary

Josephine Kelly Ledesma Walker Josephine Kelly Ledesma Walker, age 86, of Austin, passed away peacefully at her daughter s home Thursday, October 28, 2004. A memorial mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church on Saturday, November 6, 2004. She is survived by her four children: Al Ledesma and Lidia, Victoria, Texas, Dolores Ledesma Torres and Victor, Austin, John Ledesma, Austin/Victoria, and Linda Ledesma Soto and Jorge, Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Rose Mary Vallejo and Carlos, Austin; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Josephine received a nursing degree from Blinn Jr. College and worked as a nurse and a social worker for 25 years. During WW II she "kept the boys flying" by working as an airplane mechanic at Bergstrom Air Field and at Big Springs. She loved to cook and always found ways to help others. She believed in education and in that giving spirit she willed her body to the University of Texas for the furtherance of medical knowledge and research.

I remember Mrs. Ledesma very well... a kind, beautiful, and caring person. This was mostly in the 1950's... You all have lost a great lady. I am truly sorry for your loss, but know that you all were blessed to have her for so long.
