Kristin McLain Obituary

Kristin McLain, 46, had worked for STARFlight for seven years as a registered nurse, the aerial emergency medical service. She was a member of the 24-person staff that includes, paramedics, registered nurses, paramedics and technicians.

State records show that McClain has been a registered nurse in Texas since November 2008 with no disciplinary history.

She was previously licensed as a certified nurse aide and a registered nurse in Colorado, where she also did not have a disciplinary history, according to records from that state.

McLain was an athlete who enjoyed swimming biking and running, completing 14 triathlons, including an Ironman in Florida, Austin Fit Magazine reported in July.

Dear Betty, Jerry, and Winston,

I was so very sorry to hear from Thelma about Kristin's passing. My heart goes out to you and yours. As I read about her, I felt the huge presence she was to all whose lives she touched. I see so much of you in her, Betty, in her smile and in the stories and memorials on line. What an inspiring person and such a loss.

I flew flights in the late 70's. Those flights originated from Ft Sam Houston , the pilots and the medics were U S .Army. These flights were before EMS and Starr Flights. But as Nurses we stepped into those Helicopters knowing the danger was inherent, but we did each flight knowing we made a difference.
Now Kristin McLain has died doing something she loved. I pray progress somehow made her choice of profession, a Flight Nurse and her life will Never be forgotten. My prayers are with her parents, sister, friends and co-workers ,now and in the months to come. Kristin McLain RN, should never be forgotten.

My heart is heavy from news of this loss of Kristin. I knew Kristin and her sister Stacy, from High School in Woodland Park, CO. They also both rode the same bus with me. Kristin was always so nice and when I found out what she spent her life doing; helping people, it seemed to fit. I am so very sorry to all of her friends and family who are missing her. She'll always be in the hearts of those who knew her. Please accept my deepest sympathy.
