Charles Hogan Obituary

Mike Hogan Charles Michael Hogan, aged 60, passed away on February 20, 2013. Mike was born August 12, 1952, in San Antonio. He is survived by parents Betty and Darrell Hogan, twin brother Pat Hogan, sisters Anne Hogan Hardin and Susan Hogan McKinney, and special friend, Janice Villarico. He also leaves many friends, fellow travelers in the Centex Carcinoid Fighters support group, and Buick Turbo club associates. Mike graduated from Donna High School in 1971 and was a member of the 1970 DHS District championship football team. Mike, a Senior Master Technician, worked at Covert Ford in Austin for many years. He was a passionate Buick race car driver, well known at tracks in Texas and Oklahoma. His prize possession was his 1987 Buick Turbo. The family extends appreciation and thanks to the kind attentions of Alamo Hospice employees Kathy Dunaway, Jan McTolf, Norma Torres, Dr. Ben Stahl, and Chaplain Dr. David Edgar, as well as to personal caregivers Shannon and Saul Cruz. Their efforts ensured that Mike spent his last days in comfort and peace. Friends and family will gather at the family home in Leon Springs at 2:00 p.m. on March 2, 2013. Those who wish to contribute to research in treatment and cures for the rare NET (neuroendocrine) tumors that took Mike's life may contact this foundation: caringforcarcinoid.org.

Every time I drive my 2003 F350DRW with a 7.3 diesel I think of Mike. He loved the 7.3 and running off used tranny fluid. A true friend.

Rest in Peace Mike Hogan. What an intellect , this man could read a tech manual or novel in minutes and remember it all. I will miss Mikes sharp wit and mellow demeanor. Always willing to help a needy person, many repair jobs done in the driveway for little (or no)dough and some Michelob, Thanks Mike, for the good times and the laughs. Condolences to the Hogan Family, Mike will be remembered and missed by many. dp.

Mike was the sweetest guy and never had an unkind word. He'd make a joke about a bad situation and just move on. You could consider him a shy guy, although he gave me a serious ribbing about my car the day I met him on the service drive. I know he's not truly gone if I have all these wonderful memories of him and the fun times that we all shared. Still, he was a good friend and I will miss him. My condolences to everyone associated with Camp Hogan

I will always remember Mike's sunny & sweet disposition...and his great smile when he said "Hi, what's up?". Many a day in the gym or the track laboring & sweating whilst being whipped into physical shape by his father or La Prade...or being whipped into intellectual shape by Ms. Hogan. Never a moan...well almost never...just a dogged determination to get through it. Anyway...will miss him. My sincerest condolences to the Hogan family. If there is a heaven Mike is surely there.

My deepest sympathy for the entire Hogan family. Mike was a very special friend to me. He was a great guy and confident. Always there to help and never to criticize. A first class and honest auto mechanic! A person of integrity.

I enjoyed my racing days with Mike. He taught me so much and was always there to help me work on my Buick. He celebrated my success with racing and was there to lift my spirits.

It was an honor to know him. I will never Foreget Him. Mike is racing that Buick from heaven right now. And having the time of his life.

Condolences to the family for your loss. Mike was a good friend during our high school years. We unexpectedly ran into each other again years later in Round Rock Texas. We lost track. A lot of people had trouble telling the twins apart. I was able to tell the difference. Again, sorry for your loss, from an old pole vaulting buddy.
