Cynthia Jan Abernathy

Obituary Condolences

Cynthia Jan Abernathy Cynthia Jan Abernathy, 49, of Round Rock, Texas, released the ribbons of life and slipped peacefully into the love and mystery of great nature on Friday, February 4, 2011. Known to her family and friends as "Cyndie", she lived life with a joyful heart, a sweet smile and boundless compassion for the well being of so many. Cyndie spent her heart's energy caring for her loving family and guiding so many during her career with the American Cancer Society. Born January 27, 1962 in Austin, Texas, Cynthia Jan is the daughter of A.J. Pollan and Myneka Allyene (Payne) Pollan. Cyndie is preceded in death by her grandmother Gladys Boone whom she adored, her mother "Micki" Payne, her father A.J. Pollan and her niece, Peyton Floyd. Cyndie is survived by her husband, Roy G. Abernathy; her two daughters, Blair and Eva; two brothers, Robert N. Floyd, and James R. Floyd, and their families, along with husband Roy's brothers, sisters, and their families. We pray she knows how much we love and miss her, that the shimmering light she now rides leads quickly to grace and that the great mystery of love, life and time are revealed and received with poise, a tear and a chuckle. Cyndie's family will receive friends at a visitation between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Cook- Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. A service celebrating Cyndie's life will be at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Cyndie left specific instructions for the handling of her ashes. Honorary pallbearers are Brent Murphy, Bill Abernathy, Bill Harris, Charlie Todd, Greg Montgomery, Helmut Lowe, Rick King, Tyger Manthey, and Jason Floyd. In lieu of flowers, Cyndie requested that donations in her name be made to the following organizations where she knew first-hand that the money goes directly to cancer care and research: The Ronald McDonald House, The Breast Cancer Resource Center, or the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The family also requests donations in her name to the Altenheim Lighthouse Hospice in Round Rock, Texas. To view and share memories of Cyndie, please visit www.cookwaldencapitalparks.com.
