David Ernest Bryant Obituary
David Ernest Bryant David Ernest Bryant, 64, of Austin, died at home on January 6, 2013 from complications of a stroke. He was born in Bryan, Texas on August 24, 1948. After serving in the US Army and a tour of duty in Vietnam, Dave graduated from Texas A&M University in 1974. He worked as an engineer in Austin for many years, at Tracor, Inc., Rolm/Siemens, and Dell Computer. He was valued for his intellect and problem solving, his respectfulness of others, and his willingness to be a mentor to younger and less experienced engineers. He will also be remembered for his sense of humor and efforts to educate his coworkers in Texas history. After early retirement in 2008, Dave enjoyed working on projects of his own choosing and being a house husband. In October 2010 while in the midst of remodeling the kitchen, he was disabled by a major stroke and although he made some improvements through determined therapy, he could not overcome the total damage. Dave was predeceased by his father, E.L. Bryant, and a sister Rebecca Ann Bryant. He is survived by his mother and her husband, Seth and Dorothy Roberson; his wife of 45 years, Janis; his daughters and sons-in-law, Harold and Mercy Cosper, and Brian and Miranda Dvorak; and his beloved grandchildren, Lane and Ty Cosper, and Ruby and Rose Dvorak. He is also survived by his extended family Tom, Linda and Todd Shell; Mike, Christy, and Connor Yasi; and Bruce Hartmann who made sure during the last 2 years that he participated as much as possible in the special and everyday joys of a normal life. Memorial services will be private and held at a future date. A contribution in Dave's name may be made to Hospice Austin, to Texas A&M Former Students Association, or to your favorite veteran's group. If you wish to honor OUR family, take some time to enjoy YOURS. Take them out to see the world and tell them often how much you love them.
