A stand-up comic dies and meets St. Peter at the Pearly Gates...Ed Blake Paulissen, beloved brother, son, nephew, and cousin, died in Austin on January 6 surrounded by loving family members and friends. Born in Austin to parents John Bernard (Barney) and Eleanor Paulissen, who predeceased him, Ed is survived by his sister Barbara Ann Paulissen and brother Charles Andrew Paulissen.
Ed had a great time playing baseball at Lanier High School and at Texas State University. He was a terrific pitcher during those years and he remained an avid sports fan throughout his life. He's currently rooting for the Texans in the playoffs. Ed made a career as a stand-up comic using the stage name Ed Blake. Based in Houston, he performed throughout the nation and truly loved his work. His passion in life was making people laugh. Diagnosed with a glioblastoma last January, Ed fought courageously and ruthlessly against a terminal diagnosis.
A Memorial Mass will be conducted at St. Louis Catholic Church in Austin on Friday, January 13th at 1:30 pm. Following the service, a celebration of Ed's life will be held at the Flying Saucer, 815 W 47th St. Austin, TX 78751.
