Ernesto Garcia Alvarez Ernesto Garcia Alvarez, 82, died July 15, 2009, at his home of natural causes. Mr. Garcia was born April 26, 1927 in the city of Salvatierra, in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico, to Trinidad and Josefina Garcia. He had a long fulfilling career as a civil engineer. He moved to the United States in 1978 and made Austin his home in 1988. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and enjoyed big band music, hunting, camping, hiking and reading. His family wrote: "Ernesto loved his Benny Goodman. He also enjoyed meeting and sharing life stories with everyone he met. He always told a good story and was a gentle man. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him." Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife, Enriqueta Garcia of Cedar Park; his children, Fernando Enrique, Estrella, Berta Edith, Maria Eugenia, Ernesto and Elvia. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2009 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10205 Ranch Road 620 North, with Father Danny Garcia as celebrant.
