Gloria Ann Hardeman, 77, of Austin, died Friday, March 21, 2014.
She was born to the late Frank and Leona Coleman, October 3, 1936, in Port Arthur, TX. Gloria graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954 and received a BA in Education from Houston-Tillotson College. She married John Hardeman, Jr. in 1960, and they resided in Austin.
Gloria was an elementary school educator with the Austin Independent School district for 29 years, until her retirement in 1994 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. Gloria was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She loved to spend time with her family, in particular she cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 53 years, John Hardeman, Jr; daughter Carol Carter (Joseph) of Plano, TX; son John Hardeman, III (Jamie) of Allen, TX; and grandchildren: Joseph Carter, II, Sydney Hardeman, John Hardeman, IV and Blake Hardeman. She also is survived by two brothers: Earl Coleman of Port Arthur, TX and Frederick Coleman of Port Arthur, TX; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 28, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church 1610 E. 11th Street. Interment: Assumption Cemetery
The public may view from 1:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 27, 2014, Rosary to follow at 7:00pm at Mercer Memorial Chapel of Fuller-Sheffield Funeral Services 2808 E. M.L.K. Jr. Blvd.
