Jimmie Lee Archer Sr., 78, of Buchanan Dam, Texas passed away on April 22, 2014. He was born in Weslaco, Texas on November 21, 1935. He was one of 8 children born to Fred and Dottie (Thompson) Archer.
Jim attended Pan American University and South West Texas State University before moving to Austin in 1966. Where he worked in the finance business , with the majority of his career at North Austin State Bank and he later retired from Bank of America in 1991. Jim was a member of the Highland Lakes United Methodist Church at Buchanan Dam.
Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy (Ramsey) Archer of Buchanan Dam, Texas; daughter, Jodie Archer and husband, Emory Powell Thompson; son, Jimmy Lee Archer, Jr. and wife Leah; grandchildren, Taylor Amanda, and Emory Archer Thompson, Ashlyn Lee Archer; and brother, Billy Jack Archer, all of Austin, Texas. Jim also had numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Alton, Wilson, Jewell and Dick Archer, Mildred Vick and Mary Nichols.
Jim was a man who never met a stranger, could fix anything and was always ready to lend a hand. During his life he was involved in a number of community and charitable organizations. He was a charter member and first president of Town and Country Optimist Club of Jollyville, charter member and treasurer of North Austin Lions Club and a lifetime member of Lions International, member and past treasurer of Austin Bass Club, member of Austin Road Riders Association, charter member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Austin, TX., charter member of Courtyard Tennis Club, member of Balcones Country Club, member of Highland Lakes Radio Control Club, member of Highland Lakes Methodist Church, member of Buchanan Dam Lions Club, he was a Meals on Wheels Volunteer, and president of Westwood High School Booster Club.
Celebration of life services will be held on Monday April 28, 2014 in Kingsland, Texas, at the Highland Lakes United Methodist Church, 8303 West RR 1431, Kingsland, Texas, corner RR 1431 and Hwy 29, Rev. Grady Roe officiating. An online guest register may be signed at www.PutnamCares.com.
