Mary Ann CHAMBERS Obituary
CHAMBERS, Mary Ann

Mary Ann Chambers was born Mary Ann Maloney in Wichita Falls, Texas, on March 21, 1934 to parents Virginia Vinson Maloney and Lloyd Lynn "Mike" Maloney. After her parents' tragic deaths, Mary Ann was adopted by beloved great aunt and uncle, Emma and Joe "Pop" Maloney, who loved her as their own from the age of five. She exhibited her love of people, outgoing personality, and sales skills at age 10, pedaling her bicycle around Houston's Woodlands Heights selling Christmas cards in July to earn money for Christmas presents. At 13, she met Ann Hendrix, a steadfast friend for 66 years. When she was 18, Joe Maloney's untimely death changed the course of her life and her college plans, bringing Emma Maloney and Mary Ann to Waco, Texas, and Baylor University. There she met the love of her life, Ernest Chambers. After graduation, their love was sanctified in marriage on June 26, 1956. They were blessed with a son, Stephen Chambers, and daughter, Ann Chambers Taylor, daughter-in-law, Martine Chambers, grandson, Daniel Chambers, son-in-law, Mark Smith, grandson Michael Taylor, his wife, Yasmine Taylor, great-grandson Blaze Taylor, granddaughter Virginia Neese, and her husband Luke Neese. Mary Ann's assurance of God's love through Jesus Christ sustained her. After surviving cancer, she inspired others in Reach for Recovery. Her warmth and caring, as well as her quick laughter and love of fun, will be forever cherished by family, friends, neighbors, and her church family. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o'clock to eight o'clock in the evening on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas. A Graveside service will be conducted at nine o'clock in the morning on Monday, October 7, 2013, at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 I-35 Pflugerville, Texas. A Memorial Service will follow at eleven o'clock in the morning at Crestview Methodist Church, 1300 Morrow Street, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers and the customary remembrances, memorials may be sent in honor of Mary Ann, to Crestview Methodist Church Endowment Fund or Hospice Austin. Condolences may be sent to www.cookwaldenfuneralhome.com.
