Mary Cantu Adams Mary Cantu Adams of Austin, Texas, born on October 21, 1929, was called by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 10, 2007. Mary retired from the University of Texas of Austin after 37 years of service, Once retired, she spent her days traveling to Las Vegas, Louisiana and Aransas Pass with her loving companion Johnny Gil. Her hobbies included dancing, music, working crossword puzzles and watching Longhorn football. In addition, she also enjoyed her Thursday poker group for 40 plus years.Mary lived her life to the fullest. She was loving and generous to all who knew her. She did it her way. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Batts Adams Jr. mother Cecelia Cantu, father Uvaldo Cantu, brothers Fernando (Red) Cantu and Martin Cantu. She is survived by son Batts Adams III and wife Virginia; daughters, JoEllen Broadbent and husband David, Linda Heard and husband Jeff, Lisa Bocanegra and husband Pete; grandchildren, Jacqueline Heard, Stephanie Broadbent, Angela Heard, Andrea Broadbent, Batts Nolan Adams IV; sisters, Felipa (Pita) Castilla and husband Alfred, Uvaldo Cantu, Velia Estrada and husband Manuel, Yolanda (Judy) Gonzales, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Cook-Walden Funeral home from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorial mass Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at St.Austin's Catholic Church 12 noon. Reverend Charles Banks will be officiating. The family would like to thank the nursing staff in ICU North Austin Medical Center for their incredible compassion and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made to St. Austin's Catholic Church.
