Nancy Lindsay Idlet Obituary
Nancy Lindsay Idlet Nancy Idlet is no longer with us. She was born June 5, 1930 and died April 29, 2013. She is survived by her two children, Ezra and Susan Idlet, Ezra's wife, Karen, her brothers, John and David Lindsay and her grandchildren, Dylan, Steven and Dana Idlet. She also leaves behind a large and diverse group of friends. She moved to Austin from Houston in the 70's. She said over and over that Austin was her "spiritual home." Live music was her passion and she frequented local night spots like Castle Creek, The Alliance Wagon Yard, Armadillo World Headquarters, Artz Ribhouse, Waterloo Ice House and La Zona Rosa. Her passion for music also led her to volunteer for the Austin Symphony. She was an usher for the orchestra for over 20 years. She was also an ardent fan of Peter Bay, Ain't Misbehavin', Uncle Walt's Band, Paul Glasse, John Edson, Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson and Marsha Ball to name a few. She was in love with KUT and KMFA radio stations and volunteered for pledge week to help keep great music on the Austin airwaves. Nancy taught ballroom dancing and created a Monday Night Tango Club just for the joy of teaching. She also taught piano to children for free - as long as they were interested in their lessons. "I loved walking 'Miss Kitty' and 'Ragg Mopp' (her dogs) around my very special neighborhood in which better friends and neighbors could not be found," Nancy wrote recently. "Now it appears I am on my way out under the ministrations of Hospice Austin. I'm almost 83, and I certainly don't feel deprived after spending so many happy years in this town." "Love, Nancy" A gathering of friends and family is in the planning stages; please visit this Facebook Event Page for details: https://www.facebook.com/events/523418984380794/
