Services for Peggy Buchorn, 79, of Austin and formerly of Brazoria, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Marty Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Dime Box. Visitation will be held Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Peggy Louise Hamilton Buchorn was born January 22, 1935 in Brookland, Texas to Carter & Avis (Matthews) Hamilton and married Kenneth Buchorn on December 29, 1955. She co-founded the Brazoria County Youth Homes, served on the board of the Gulf Coast Regional MHMR, testified before the Texas Legislature and US Congressional committees concerning the South Texas Nuclear Power Project as head of Citizens for Equitable Utilities, and most recently, was a CASA volunteer. She passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 in Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Charles & James Hamilton and sister, Linda Hunt.
Peggy is survived by four children, Deborah Martin of Houston, Brad Buchorn & his wife, Donna of Deer Park, Tanea Greenwood of Austin and Rebecca Stidolph & her husband, David of Austin; nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
